No Banana Smoothie Recipe
Bananas are the backbone to most smoothies, but what happens if you can’t stand them? Can you make a smoothie without one?
YES! Absolutely yes you can. Here are 3 fruit smoothie recipes WITHOUT banana.
– With Yoghurt
A great way to thicken your smoothie without banana is by using natural yoghurt instead. This is a great way to add some good gut bacteria to your diet too. Replace the banana with half a cup of yoghurt to create a thick smoothie.
- Summer berries
- Natural Yoghurt
- Milk/water
- Natural sweetener (raw honey, Maple syrup, Raw cane sugar)
- ground flax seed/chai seeds
– Without Yoghurt
If you want no banana AND no yoghurt, you could go for Avocado instead. You don’t taste it when it’s all blended up, but it adds a beautiful thick creamy texture to the smoothie. Plus it’s full of vitamins and healthy fats, which we all need more of!
- Green Apple
- Grapes
- Avocado
- Frozen Spinach
- Ground Flax seed/ Chia seed
- Natural sweetener
- Milk or water to thin if necessary
Or how about a classic Strawberry smoothie!
Strawberry Pineapple Fruit Smoothie Recipe without Banana- With Coconut Milk
Another great way to beef up a smoothie without banana is to add Coconut milk. This adds the same rich smoothness as the avocado but is great if you are staying away from dairy. It doesn’t add much of a coconut flavour, and again, adds good fats into your diet.
- Strawberries
- Coconut milk
- Frozen Pineapple
- Natural sweetener (if desired, this is nicely sweet as is)
- Kale
- Dash of salt
Bonus tip:
Use frozen fruit for a thicker, almost ice cream consistency!
